GOYNUK- Göynük
I planned everything weeks ago, my vacation is never be a coincidence. For that weekend I have planned something as usual, but all of them cancelled. I was about to go with my friends to vacation which was suddenly cancelled, later my aunt invite me to her resort in turkish riviera in the south. I packed my luggage, get on the car to the bus stations. I was getting on the bus, I got a call, her father-in-law got a serious stroke and I came back home with luggages in my hands. The lesson is here "Don't plan anything' or "Plan your life and let it go" because there is plan behind your plans. Now, I did not planned but I came to this house.
What special in this town?
If you are admirer of old Turkish houses and cities, it is the right place to come. You dont have to be follower of cliche architectural taste, very refreshing town is waiting for you. Aksemseddin who was the teacher of Mehmet II (he is known Fatih Sultan Mehmet in Turkey, he conquered Constantinapole/Istanbul in 1453) is buried here, he was accepted the person behind the conquest. Goynuk city isvery proud of having that person on their earth. Aksemseddin had encouraged Mehmet II very much for the conquest while other ulema (team includes teachers, professor and scientist) was against that plan. At the entrance of the city, the sign says "Welcome to town of Aksemseddin).
I can list of cities look the same Goynuk, Tarakli, Mudurnu, Beypazari and Safranbolu. Never feel unfamiliar in walking in the streets in any of those cities. Mostly two floors houses has 4-5 rooms including guest room. Narrow streets, wooden material are the well known characteristics of the city. They have small gardens/yards.
narrow streets
Gazi Suleman pasha mosque
When it comes to materials and decoration of the buildings, wood sounds very warm and human for me. I guess I got that thought from my experiences, I stayed at those houses many times and I woke up in peace. Also, they
Gazi Suleman Pasha mosque is paralel to city architecture, made up wooden material. Except classical Turkish mosques, it doesnt have a dome. Celing and wall decoration was unique indeed.
Turksoylar Mansion and the spectacular view
We were hangingout in the city with my parents , my father pushed me to find the hotel first and see te city later. But I really want to see the secret and sacredd places before the sunset. I took the ramp to the hill and see the sign for rooms. I killed two birds with one stone, I found the room and see the sunset from the top. The hotel is actually a traditional goynuk house, it was clean, peaceful and no one there except us. It would be prfect night to get rest. After we had finished sightseeing, we got tired of fresh air. I jump to my bed to recharge myself for tomorrow. While I was sleeping, something scratching my feet, I thought it was just a blanket, i go back to sleep. After a while I felt the same thing, I thought I was just little nervous to stay somewhere else. I can hear your saying, I am around the world and still nervouse out of my house. Absolutely yes, I enjoy my travels except nights. I cannot sleep well out of my home. Ok, I am going back to my feet. It was scratching hard, now I opened my blanket and saw big size centipede was on my feet. It was crawling until I screamed to wake up the city. I cant even stand for big animals, now I am very close to the most disgusting one. I have to exchange our beds with my father to get a good sleep. The next morning everybody has ironic smile, organic life is somewhat too much for me. Don't look at me, you should be luckier than me and haven't have those animals around you. Just enjoy the serenity comes with the wind.
